What is the difference between consulting and marketing?

Though this is not a question asked much, we have had a few customers ask what the differences are. This is mainly because the way we separate main content on our website between consulting, online marketing, traditional marketing and design services.

As far as our website is concerned, we separated marketing and consulting to make it easier for customers to find what they are looking for.

Consulting is working with customers and providing information through informed discussion. We sit down with you, learn about your company and what your goals are, and help you formulate a marketing strategy for your business or organization.

Marketing has more to do with providing a service, such as tradeshow consulting, or sending out direct mail to your customers. We can consult with your company without visiting your office (though we often do visit with our clients when we need to). There is more participation with our marketing services, such as doing research, and attending tradeshows; these types of marketing services require more time at your place of business and have a more hands-on approach to marketing.

Should our company use traditional or online marketing?

This depends on several factors. Though we suggest both, sometimes one is better than the other depending on the budget and the desired outcome.

Search Engine Optimization, otherwise known as SEO, is a simple, yet effective means of marketing on the internet. SEM, Search Engine Marketing, can produce instant results, but costs more.

Traditional marketing and business development still plays a vital role in marketing a product or service and the costs vary, depending on the amount of research and time.

When asking this question, you should first ask yourself what are your long term goals, and what your marketing budget is. We offer a complete line of business development services, including SEO, SEM, traditional and direct marketing.

How to be successful at trade shows?

To be successful at trade shows, you must first ask yourself what you intend to gain from exhibiting at the tradeshow. Some trade shows are "must attends" while others might be used to increase your market share by expanding your presence to a larger market.

The first step should be to ask questions about why your company is attending the tradeshow, what you expect to gain, and what strategies are more effective than others?

Sure, it's easy to use a pop-up booth with a few graphics and a table, however that is not always as effective as careful planning, pre and post show marketing, and proper product placement.. For example, where do you want to be located? It's best to avoid the very front, and of course, the very back of the tradeshow; people tend to walk to the right first, and make their way around; thus, depending on where your competitors are placed, you should find proper placement for your booth at a location that will generate the most interest. So, it's more than just picking a number on a book.

We have over 15 years experience setting up tradeshows, finding the right spot, and getting the most "bang for the buck." We can help answer the above questions and develop a sound plan for your next tradeshow.

There is a lot of time that goes into proper tradeshow planning, and we can help. Contact our tradeshow coordinators now!
